Where you live Fort Gratiot, MI

1) How long have you been writing?

I started writing poetry when I was 9 years old. I loved it but the more I read the more I wanted to write novels.

2) What or who was your inspiration to write?

Robert James Green. When I read his novel “The Whistleing Sword” I loved the idea of using real-life people, in Green’s book it was Genghis Khan in this novel. I think I was 8 or 9 when I read his novel.

3) Which genre do you like to read? Why?

I like paranormal, thriller, murder mystery the most. But if a novel in a different genre is unique I will read it. I love anything ‘out-of-the-box’.

4) Do you write this genre or others? Why?

I’ve added a little romance to my first two novels, and might have it in my WIP. I just thought it would add to the story.

5) Who are your favorite authors?

Robert James Green, Stephen King, Michael Weems, Dean Koonts, to name a few. I’d run out of room if I listed them all.

6) How do you create your characters?

I had trouble doing this when I started writing. Then I read an article in The Writer by Patrick Scalisi where he talks about writing a feature article on your characters. I basically do that now and it is a lot easier keeping them under control!

7) Do you give them names before you develop them? No.

8) How do you choose your characters names?

The names come to me as I create them from the interview to their physical description.

9) Do you edit as you write or after you get your manuscript written?

No. I don’t think so, anyway. Sometimes I think of something from a different chapter and go back and add/remove. Otherwise I read the finished mauscript and edit if I need to. (Thank God for editors!)

10) Do you have an agent, publisher, or self-publish?
If you’ve used more than one which was most profitable?

My WIP will be going through a publisher. The time I’ve had to spend promoting my work could better be used writing. I really like the young man I’ll be working with.

11) What advice have you received to help you and what advice would you give a new writer?

READ!!!!!! Find your passion and you’ll be on your way. And don’t be afraid to do research. With my first novel, “The Owl of the Sipan Lord” I contacted an archaeologist, with questions. My WIP (The Midnight Owl) I spoke to our local medical examiner to be sure I got the murder right.
