evil circus

“Tell me somethin’, do you ever get nightmares, you know. About stuff, Hank?”

Hank was fixing his bow tie. He was only three and a half feet tall but when he was dressing for a show he felt like Fred Astaire. He sighed. “Sure, after what we been through. Why wouldn’t I?”

“Yeah, well—it’s now that counts, right?”

“Sure is, my friend. Our luck turned around didn’t it? Don’t I always say to look on the bright side?”

It was true. Tommy always helped him. He always would. That was why they were pals. Friends forever—literally.

They were part of a circus. Granted it was small, but it made up for that by its uniqueness. And like any circus, aside from midgets,

it had animal acts, performers and clowns. What’s a circus without clowns?

Yup, considering its size, this circus was pretty popular. People…

Do you love baking and TV programs? Come meet Brian Emmett, winner of the American Baking Competition.

Just Olga

Hi all:

If you’ve been reading me for a while, you’ll know that on Friday’s I bring you guest authors (classics or modern ones) and/or new books. As you know (because I won’t let you forget it!) I just published a romantic novel where a big part of the action takes place in a TV baking competition (I Love Your Cupcakes). As coincidence would have it (and don’t you love coincidences!), just about a week ago I was delighted when I discovered that one of my new followers in Twitter, Brian Emmett, was the winner of The American Baking Competition 2013.

(If you want to check out the program, here is the link:

Men versus Women by K J Rollinson

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Dragon Post

Two years ago, a report appeared in a UK newspaper, ‘The Telegraph’, on a new analysis of a survey of 10,000 people. It found that each sex has firmly entrenched characteristics, with women showing more sensitivity, warmth and apprehension than men. In contrast, emotional stability, dominance, rule-consciousness and vigilance are more typically male characteristics, experts say.

Previous research has claimed that the average personality differences between men and women are small. But the new analysis revealed that each sex has a distinct set of characteristics. Just 18 per cent of men having a typically ‘female’ set of traits and vice versa.

Now, rather than go on about statistics and different characteristics between men and women, I want to share a joke with you which I put on Facebook recently, and it was shared numerous times – by females, of course

A Spanish Teacher was explaining to her class that in…

The Magic of Christmas by K J Rollinson

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Dragon Post

I know, I know, I can hear you say – What! You are writing about Christmas already, but the festive season is only eleven weeks away, already there are adverts on the telly about Christmas. Soon, every shop window will be festooned with colourful baubles and stars and twinkling lights with lend even the most dingy street a magical image, like Fairyland.

Here in Spain they go for Christmas in a big way, although the festive season for some Spanish isn’t until the 6th January, a national holiday, to celebrate ‘The Day of the Kings’ – ‘El Dia De Los Reyes.’

January 6th is a very special day throughout Spain. It is a day for the family to come together for a special meal, gift exchanges and time together. It is very much like Christmas Day in North America or northern European countries. Nowadays, both Christmas Day and January 6th…

Serious Horror, What is it?

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Horror Post

vampires (1)

What is serious horror? I’ve been thinking about this. I think it’s horror that goes back to basics, back to the starting point, back to why it was termed ‘horror.’  The time when  monsters were depicted as monsters and vampires as the blood- feeding demonic creatures they are. That is not to say there can’t be room for expansion because there can be.

I write about vampires that are evil and good. The good ones aren’t elves or woodland fairies, however. Being vampires they face a dark existence; as dark as the night shadows they dwell in. If they are not intrinsically evil, they are tortured because they know what they are.  They cannot enter a church or be turned back into the human being they were. This causes them to suffer, which in turn causes them to have complex emotions and reactions to the world around them–both the living…

Modern Slavery in Sudan. Part II. By K J Rollinson

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Dragon Post

Slavery in Sudan was revived in 1983, when the Arab Muslim government began using slavery as a weapon in its war to put down Southern rebellion against the government imposition of Islamic law. Tens of thousands of people were enslaved.

The Christian Solidarity International (CSI) started working in Sudan in 1985. In 1995, the organisation discovered a local network of Africans and Arabs working together to retrieve the slaves. With the CSIs assistance, a sophisticated ‘underground rail road’ grew. A peace treaty in 2005 put an end to the slave raids. However, the treaty does not provide for those already enslaved.

The CSI is a Christian human rights NGO (non-governmental organisation, although it can be funded by a government, a foundation or a business) based in Switzerland, and works worldwide. The CSI also operates a clinic to provide medical care for returning slaves and other locals, and regularly leads expeditions…
