I Took Up a Challenge to Write 52 stories This Year!

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Horror Post

Am I nuts, well it helps. I do write a chapter a day as it is! That’s for a new series. I’m finishing book 1 in it now and am still writing my weekly story. The challenge came over Christmas and I took it because I couldn’t resist.

Challenges are good, they force us to push ourselves, to try different things. As long as we don’t go off the rails, we can learn a lot. I’m actually enjoying writing a story a week. It’s not as difficult as you think. I’ve discovered a black humor side to my horror I had no idea existed. I’m killing people off right and left that I can’t stand. And it is a cartharsis. It’s just naughty fun!

I keep a folder for all the ideas and just work them up.

Here is a link where you can see my progress.

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Dragon Post

Tomorrow is a very important day for me as I’m moving into my apartment by the sea. I posted you a view of the surrounding area a few weeks ago, so forgive me if I just post the synopsis for ‘Fallyn and the Sea Dragons’ this week.

I have had complimentary comments about the cover. I despaired of finding something suitable because my usual site didn’t have any pictures of sea dragons! Then, I had a brainwave. I downloaded a free picture of a seascape painted and ‘collaged’ some dragons onto the seascape, scanned and printed the lot and sent it to the publisher

Fallyn and the Sea Dragons is the final book of my ‘Fallyn’ trilogy. I almost feel like wearing black! Fallyn no more, boo hoo! Fallyn and friends have been by my side for the last four years, since they were born. I almost feel like a…

Six months ago I went to the doctor. I hate going to the doctor. I’d go more often if I didn’t have to be weighed every single time–that’s the worst part of going to the doctor–getting weighed. Can’t the doctor just see for herself that I need to lose weigh and write, “Needs to lose weight,” on her chart? Why make me go through the humiliation? It’s rude, I tell ya . . . down right rude.

This appointment was a little different. This time my doctor addressed my weight issue. She said the words I’ve always dreaded . . . “You need to see a shrink.”

I thought I’d been camouflaging my extra weight quite well. It’s amazing how many body parts a couple of scarves can hide. Crud. I should have thrown on a few more scarves.

I responded to my doctor’s declaration by acting all innocent…

The Ninnies

In prior post the topics have been MeBots, Misguided Groups, Haters and now it is Ninnies. Ninnies are ignorant, but innocent and create a majority presence in the family of Humanity. As infuriatingly frustrating some of us might find their lack of concern they could not be considered evil or misguided, just Ninnies. Maybe some classification will clarify this subject of today’s topic.

Ninnies would have some characteristics that will help you recognize them. Firstly their is no outward physical appearance or trait that is tangible, but rather their actions will indicate their ninnyness. If you notice someone being mugged or pickpocketed on the street downtown and seems copasetic with the assault you can consider them a Ninny. If you watch someone suffer dehumanization and only shrug and schlep off or if you see someone in the road with a big truck barreling towards them and they just…

R.D. Lawrence

Reading Recommendations

I am very pleased to be able to present to you today the eBook reprint of a book by Canadian author, R.D. Lawrence. Not only was I a sales rep for several of his publications when they were first printed in the 90s, and a bookseller who sold many of his books over the years, but I was thrilled to learn recently that R.D. had made his home in Minden, ON, where our family owned a cottage decades ago. Unfortunately, R.D. Lawrence is no longer with us, but when I met Sharon Lawrence in Minden last year and she told me she would be reissuing many of R.D.’s publications as eBooks, I asked her to share this news with all of you. It is my hope that many new readers will now discover the writing of this great Canadian naturalist, biologist, environmentalist, and animal advocate, and that his legions of…

Excerpt: Unholy Testament – The Beginnings, 99 cents Offer

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Horror Post

Last week I shared my short story, The Ointment for Easter. It tells of an intelligent demon’s witnessing of the Crucifixion. The book it inspired is Unholy Testament – The Beginnings, which is on offer until April 29.  Image

Please read the excerpt below.

From Eco’s journal:

Jesus is brought before Pilate:

The rabbi nodded. “It is as you say.”

What cheek, I thought, for you see, despite hating God I did still think it was unseemly to admit such a thing. Then because it was Passover he said there was the tradition of an amnesty for a prisoner.

“Who do you choose, Barbaras or Jesus?”

I screamed for the other, having no idea at all what sort of beast the man was. “Barbaras! Barbaras!”

Pilate looked surprised but then he nodded; an ironic smile upon his lips. “Very well.”

The rabbi remained there. I wondered what…

The Ointment – A Story For Easter

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Horror Post

This story inspired a book. It tells of an intelligent demon’s account of The Crucifixion

Yes, it is I—Eco, the son of a fallen angel and a human mother. Eco, the demon spawn who lives his eternal existence glorying in his damnation. Eco who was sent by Satan to see him whose birth was prophesized.

But the babe was just a babe and nothing more. Truly, I was not particularly impressed I have to say, not at first. It was as a man that I was struck by him: by his voice and what he said. “Pray for those that persecute you!”Could he mean it I thought. How could he say such a thing? The very logic of it was illogical, was it not?I was thinking this when he looked at me. His eyes, seeming to go through me, piercing into my flesh in a way no being has ever…

Remembering Hillsborough

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement with Colin Albin

Today is a special day. It is the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster when 96 Liverpool fans needlessly lost their lives. I will never forget that day. It was a beautiful sunny day, very much like today. It was a Saturday and we had friends staying with us for the weekend. Our two children were very young – 1 and 2 years of age. Our friends had young children too and we decided to go to a local park in the afternoon. When we got there everyone got out of the cars – it was ten past three and I said I just wanted to check on the radio to see if there was any score in the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. When I put the radio on I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. And although I didn’t actually know anyone who died personally…
